Dula Sentle
is an orphan day-care center in Otse, Botswana. Over seventy orphaned children from the community spend their time after school (from 12 or 1 pm until just before sunset) in the company of local adult staff and foreign volunteers. One recent volunteer was Bianca Dahl, our Pastor's daughter. Dula Sentle provides a safe, warm environment for children to play, receive help with homework, eat two healthy hot meals, and perhaps most importantly, experience the love and care of responsible and kind adults. ILC supports Dula Sentle with funds that have provided towels and washcloths (seen in photo) and shoes for the orphans. Although the Dula Sentle project is not overtly missionary, prayers are included and Bible teaching is present. Most of the children and staff are Lutheran and the wife of the proprietor is an active weekly member of a Lutheran church. They maintain a nonsectarian stance in order to benefit from wider support than would be available were they narrowly defined as Christian. |
