Session 1 - "What are the Lutheran Confessions Good For?"
Acts 4: 1-4
Lutherans emphasize that the proper Christian work involves hearing the Word,
rightly divided as Law and Gospel, and reception of the Sacraments. These two
themes will be explored as Lutheran distinctives. An introduction to this Study.

Session 2 - "The Lutheran Confessions - Saint & Sinner"

The Lutheran understanding of sin is unique among Christian faith communities,
and its exceptional emphasis is derived from Paul's account of our human plight
in this world. The twin themes of sin and redemption will be examined.
Session 3 - "The Lutheran Confessons - Justification & Vocation"
Phil 4: 4-9
The doctrine of justification by faith is the central pillar of Lutheran theology. But
How are we to live out our justification each day. The notion of vocation, as explained
In Luther's own writings, will be the focus of our Study of this subject.

Dr. Tom Pearson, son of Millie & Dale Pearson of Immanuel-Saratoga, has served as a Parish Pastor, an Author and Lecturer, and since 1994, a Professor at the University of Texas-Pan American. His courses include Professional Ethics, Religion, and the Philosophy of Religion, Science, and Social Values.
