I wish to inform pastors and administrators of an important multi-congregational event taking place in mid-October. As indicated on the accompanying web page, a number of Pastors from the Santa Clara Valley Parish of the Sierra Pacific Synod have elected to take advantage of the off-campus Bible Study Program sponsored by the Lutheran Bible Institute of California. The long-term objectives of the LBI program are, through these Bible Studies, to let your congregation know that LBI exists and to teach the Word to both youth and adults. Specifically, we hope to encourage congregations and parents to send their youth in the summer to LBI for a few weeks of intensive Bible Study and Christian fellowship. The Church has a great need for Youth Directors, Seminary students, and workers in the Mission fields, and we need to encourage our youth to consider such potential part-time or full-time service.
However, the important near-term objective is to augment the Bible studies already being offered within your congregation with special studies to be led by renowned Bible study leaders from throughout the nation. The initial offering, sponsored by St. Timothy Lutheran Church of San Jose last February, brought to us Dr. James Kallas from Thousand Oaks. His presentation of the Life and Letters of the Apostle Paul was exciting and highly informative. Attendance was between 45-50 and we were strongly encouraged to continue the LBI Bible Study Program. Here is a suggested calendar item for your bulletin and monthly Newsletter:
