Dr. James Nestingen has served as a parish Pastor in Oregon and Ontario, was an editor at Augsburg Publishing House, and taught at Luther Seminary from 1976-2008 as the Professor of Church History. His specialty is Luther and the Lutheran Confessions. He has published several books, including “Martin Luther: A Life”, and written many articles for church magazines and scholarly journals. At Luther Seminary he became a beloved foundation stone for many Lutheran Pastors and is widely recognized as an exciting, scripturally sound, and delightful lecturer on the biblical foundations of Lutheranism. He retired from Luther in 2007 and is now intimately involved in the new Lutheran Institute of Theology. Don’t miss this great opportunity!

The work of the Lutheran Bible Institute California:

  • The Lutheran Bible Institute California is a community of students, faculty, congregations, pastors and laity who seek the person and will of the living God in and through the written Word.
  • Our purpose is to educate the people of the congregation in the Word and the ministry into which He has called them. We are called to "equip the saints" for the building up of the kingdom of God -- the church, the called-out people.
  • Northern California classes are for congregants, pastors, associates, financial officers, youth directors, education directors, and for anyone seeking personal enrichment in their faith life.
