ILC Trust Fund

The Immanuel Lutheran Trust was established on Oct. 22, 1989. Its purpose is to assist college students and offer evangelism and outreach opportunities in the community.  Since 1989 the Trust Fund has awarded more than 125 scholarships. The Trust Fund also serves by offering educational opportunities to the Immanuel congregation and community.

The Trust Fund has two components:

  • A perpetual fund in which principal received by gift, bequest, memorial, or will remains in the fund.  Scholarships for college-bound students are the primary focus of this fund.
  • A memorial fund in which both principal and earnings can be used according to the wishes of the donor.

The Trust Fund is administered by a board of five trustees who are selected by nomination and approval by a vote of the congregation.

The basic Fund activities are:

  • Scholarship awards for college-bound students
  • Annual golf tournament to raise funds for scholarships
  • A financial seminar with general interest on wills, trusts, and taxes.
  • Explore new outreach/stewardship possibilities
  • Provide educational programs of current events

Most scholarships are awarded as memorials.  The primary awards are:

  • Shonk Memorial Scholarship, also available to a Saratoga High School Graduate
  • Joseph W. Doherty Memorial Scholarship
  • ILC Scholarship-Awarded each year in memory of Ada Geri
  • Lutheran School Scholarship
  • ILC Trust Fund Scholarship
  • Nina Phillips Scholarship available to a woman in the community continuing her college education
